Too old for trick or treating? How about just sticking to the treat and heading for your local shooting ground to smash some clays!

This time of year isn’t just perfect for ghosts and ghouls it’s the ideal time to sample a spot of shooting.. and not just because it’ll stop you stuffing your face with all those leftover sweets! When autumn arrives there’s no better time to test your shotgun skills and here’s why we think you love taking aim over the coming weeks..

The weather’s not that bad..

We know what you’re thinking, and no we haven’t gone completely mad. Yes, the weather can be completely unpredictable, but when isn’t it? At least at this time of year you’re guaranteed to see the countryside at its best, and with shooting grounds awash with autumn colours you’ll get some cracking photos. Should the rain try and spoil your fun most shooting grounds now offer covered shooting stands anyway, and a bit of rain only makes for a more challenging shot, so it’s even sweeter when you blow a clay to pieces.

You can bring the kids..

Give or take a few days, but Halloween usually falls around half term, which means now is the perfect time for families and first time shooters to experience the rush of clay pigeon shooting. Age restrictions vary across the country, but at some shooting grounds children as young as six-years-old can take the first steps towards mastering clay pigeon shooting. With specially adapted equipment and fully qualified instructors to help them every step of the way, they’ll love every second of this exhilarating sport.
