Look The Part With Traditional Shooting Attire..

clayshootclothesClay shooting is a highly prestigious sport, so wearing some skinny jeans and a hoodie to the shooting range really won’t cut it if you want to look like a Pro. To be a champion clay shooter, you need to look the part. There isn’t any dress code on a shooting range- the only written rule is don’t wear open toe shoes, whilst you’d be a fool to forget your ear and eye protectors. Here, we’ll guide you through the classic clay shooting looks, which will make you fit in perfectly, from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.

Flat Cap: The classic clay shooting look is incomplete without a flat cap perched above your head. A Tweed flat cap brings a countryside flavour to your appearance- as soon as you put one on, you’ll feel completely in the zone.

Shirt/Jacket: What you’ll wear here differs depending on whether or not you are going on a formal shoot- on our sites, you can opt for the more smart casual approach to your dress sense. On formal shoots, professional shooters go for green or brown checked shirts, as well as a three piece tweed suit if they want to make an impression.

On clay shoots, many of the similar styles crossover, although the main focus is on choosing light layers that are easy to breathe in. Similarly, when choosing a shooting jacket, the main aim is to find something that is easy to move around in. If this wasn’t enough for budding fashionistas, you’ll also need to find a perfect shooting vest, which will help aid the loading and unloading of your gun.

Wellies and long socks: The art of clay shooting is all about posture, something that will be difficult when you’ve got two ice cubes where your feet used to be- so always go with wellies and long socks in the colder months. When the weather is warmer, trainers or walking boots will be fine. As long as your feet are comfortable, the footwear is doing its job perfectly.

With all this in mind, you are now just one step away from feeling like a real clay shooter– and having a brand new wardrobe!
